Measurement of drop size, velocity, number density and flux at points within the spray.
Artium modular PDI system family offers turnkey operation with fully automated setup features. The PDI systems are used for the realtime, non-intrusive measurement of individual droplet size and 1, 2, or 3 velocity components in a variety of spray applications.
Measured quantities: | droplet size and velocity |
Drope size range: | 0.3 to 8000 µm |
Size accuracy: | +/- 0.5 µm |
Velocity range: | -600 - 1300 m/s |
Velocity accuracy: | +/- 0.1% |
Volume flux accuracy: | +/- 10% |
Max data rate: | 100 kHz |
The Turnkey PDIs from Artium Technologies Inc. offer permanent alignment and are ready to acquire droplet size and velocity data right out of the box. The optical heads are sealed and rated IP66 for spray ingress protection and contain transmission and receiver optics in a single enclosure. These lightweight instruments are designed to be placed directly into a spray.
Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) is a technique which allows the measurement of velocity at a point in a flow field with a high temporal resolution.
Artium’s LDV systems include the optical system consisting of DPSS laser, frequency shifting module, optical receiver with compact photodetectors, preamplifiers, ASA signal processing system, and the advanced Automated Instrument Management System (AIMS) software package.
Artium Technologies offers both standard compact modular systems, compact flight probes, self-contained systems and custom designed optical systems to meet specific requirements of the measurement environment. The optical transmitter and receiver operate as turnkey systems requiring no internal alignment and will operate without requiring any adjustment by the user. The modular optical systems may be mounted on a common rail and translated with a computer controlled traversing system.
